Symptoms of Depression

Depression is a serious and common mental health condition that affects how you feel, think, and behave. It can cause a wide range of emotional and physical symptoms, including:

Persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness

Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy

Changes in appetite and sleep patterns, such as increased or decreased appetite and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep

Reduced energy and motivation

Difficulty concentrating, remembering, and making decisions

Restlessness or irritability

Physical symptoms, such as body aches and pains, headaches, and digestive problems

Suicidal thoughts or actions

Not everyone with depression will experience all of these symptoms, and the severity of the symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people may have mild to moderate symptoms, while others may have severe symptoms that interfere with their ability to function at work, school, or in social situations.

In addition to the symptoms listed above, people with depression may also experience other symptoms, such as feelings of worthlessness or guilt, feelings of emptiness or numbness, feelings of hopelessness or helplessness, and loss of interest in sex. They may also experience changes in weight or appetite, changes in activity levels, and changes in social behavior.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to talk to your doctor or a mental health professional. They can help you determine if you are experiencing depression and can provide you with the help and support you need.
